An Overview of Gold Rushes
First of all we need to understand the meaning of the term “Gold Rush”. According to Cambridge dictionary Gold Rush is “a situation in which a lot of people move to a place to try to find gold because they have heard that gold has been found there”. The California gold rush in 1948, Australian gold rushes in 1851, gold rush in South Africa-1886 and Klondike gold rush in 1896 were the major events which fueled the economic boom and altered the history of the regions.
Now the question arises why we need to know about the events which are named in history as Gold Rushes? These events from the 19th century shaped economies and cultures around the world and are credited with enormous developments in wealth, culture and populations and in addition with that some historic migrations around the world in search of better fortune.
These Gold Rushes or significant discoveries of gold deposits were started from California in 1848 to the last great gold rush of 19th century Klondike gold rush in Canada from 1896 to 1899.
